12 moves of christmas

According to some people it’s the most wonderful time of year… while I do celebrate Christmas it’s definitely not my favorite time of year but it’s great to reconnect with family and spend time together. We keep the gift giving pretty low key and do a secret Santa among my mom, sisters, and myself. This is a tradition we started a couple years ago after my dad died… which is another reason the holiday season isn’t oh so blissful for me or my family. It’s still tough to celebrate anything without him.

During the holidays people worry about weight gain and eating sweets- I’m always of the philosophy that dieting doesn’t work and all foods fit so that’s never a concern for me. However moving my body is something that is crucial for me physically and mentally.  I typically travel between Pittsburgh, Philly, and Baltimore during the holiday season so this means I’m in the car, A LOT. Getting in some movement before those types of trips makes my body feel so much better if I’m going to be sitting for hours. Also for my mental health exercise is a huge stress relief. It’s one of the ways I cope with feelings of stress, frustration, or sadness. Sweating or working out is a release for me so I know that I’ll likely be in a better mood if I get some movement in. This brings us to today’s workout. In the past I’ve post a 12 moves of Christmas workout but I honestly feel like that’s too much. Today I’m sharing a full body weight workout that can be done equipment free in any location. It’s a pyramid type workout where you are adding a new move at each level and repeating the previous moves. Make sure you get an adequate warm up in and enjoy this 12 Moves of Christmas workout!

What’s your favorite workout during the holiday season?? I will also say that just getting in a 2-3 mile run is a great way for me to get some exercise in!
