I have partnered with Dannon to help promote Light & Fit. I have been compensated for my time commitment. However, my opinions are entirely my own and I have not been paid to publish positive comments.
I have really enjoyed my partnership with Dannon this past year. They challenged me to create a recipe using supplied ingredients “Chopped” style and encouraged me to share how to encourage others to #DoWhatFitsYou in posts earlier this year. This month’s challenge was to share a new way to cook with or enjoy Dannon® Light & Fit® Regular or Greek Nonfat Yogurt with Zero Artificial Sweeteners. This a new offering by the brand and one I am digging right now. It has the same great taste as their Light & Fit yogurts but it contains zero artificial sweeteners; instead it is sweetened with stevia and cane sugar.
Since yogurt is such a “nutritional powerhouse” I decided to keep my recipe creation simple. Enter: yogurt toast! It’s just like the popular avocado toast only the yogurt adds more protein. Yogurt toast is simple to make and the delicious yogurt flavors speak for themselves. By using a hearty loaf of bread and some crunchy toppings, yogurt toast provides amazing texture and balance with breakfast, a snack, or even dessert. I elected to use pistachios, pecans, chia seeds, and figs as my toppings but you can get as creative as you want- do what fits you! (My favorite combo was strawberry yogurt with pecans and pistachios.
I tend to reach for the Greek varieties over regular to have the additional protein. Light & Fit Greek Nonfat Yogurt with Zero Artificial Sweeteners contains 90 calories, 13 grams of protein and 3 grams of fiber per 5.3 oz. I frequently have clients ask me about dairy products and always encourage them to consume them regularly. The 2015 Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommend increasing intake of nutrient-dense foods, such as fat-free or low-fat dairy products, like yogurt. Yogurt is nutrient-dense and many yogurts are a good source of protein, calcium and Vitamin D.
