It’s time to celebrate your body. New years resolutions have come and gone… Maybe you tried a new diet or did a cleanse to “eliminate toxins” to be in your “best” body for the new year?? Or maybe you read an article that stated you should be doing a plank every day for perfect abs or that this new 30 minute workout will make you lose 10lbs overnight and get your “best” body!?
Well those aren’t true and don’t even get me started on daily celery juice or DNA testing diets. The biggest impact you have on your body is both mental and physical health- not silly trends. Thinking positive and seeking happiness can certainly help you feel good both in your brain and in your body.
Celebrate your Body
For this Valentine’s Day be in your best body by celebrating and loving yourself. It might sound cheesy but it’s true. By honoring and accepting our body we are nourishing it.
Here are are my tips for self love and being in your best body:
- Treat your body with kindness– stop that negative self talk and give yourself some grace and compliments- talk to yourself the way you would talk to a close friend (and check out my post on improving body image for more tips!)
- Drink more water– yes I love a glass of wine or beer but I feel best when I’m drinking enough water everyday
- Find joyful movement– exercise is great but it’s even better when it’s something you enjoy so seek that out
- Listen to your body cues– if you’re hungry-eat…. if you’re tired and sore skip your workout
- Laugh out loud! Laughter truly is the best medicine
- Get 7-8 hours of sleep– Sleep is such an underrated part of health and wellness but is so important
- Stretch– Get up from your work space and move your limbs
- Enjoy all foods– Restriction will never make you feel good physically or mentally (Check out my post on anti-diet apps if you are a former tracker!)
- Meditate– Take deep breaths, every day, as often as you need
- Find things you make you happy– Surround yourself with people and activities you enjoy
