Middle East-inspired cauliflower rice shares the warming spices traditionally used. At the heart of Middle Eastern cuisine is a deep appreciation for fresh, seasonal produce, aromatic spices, and wholesome ingredients.
A hallmark of Middle Eastern cooking is the emphasis on communal dining and hospitality, with meals often served family-style and shared among loved ones. Food is seen as a means of bringing people together, fostering connections, and expressing generosity.
Staples of Middle Eastern cuisine include grains such as rice, bulgur, and couscous, as well as legumes like chickpeas, lentils, and fava beans. These ingredients form the foundation of hearty and nourishing dishes such as falafel, hummus, and mujadara.
Herbs and spices play a vital role in Middle Eastern cooking, adding depth and complexity to dishes. Commonly used spices include cumin, coriander, cinnamon, and sumac, while fresh herbs like parsley, mint, and cilantro provide brightness and fragrance.
Have you ever tried cauliflower rice?? While I have nothing against white or brown rice (I eat it regularly) cauliflower rice is fun way to switch things up. I really enjoy cauliflower- cooked, never raw. Plus it has a great nutrition profile and can be made easily (when purchased in a frozen bag).
This Middle East cauliflower rice is inspired by a Lebanese restaurant I love… the complexity of the flavors stemming from that region is insane. While I have never traveled to this area, I’m a huge fan of the food. Always aromatic and delicious, my Middle East cauliflower rice packs a punch. It’s perfect as side dish or can even be eaten as main course.
