Have you had Kind’s new Strong Bars? This is my homemade interpretation… a smoky BBQish taste with some honey for sweetness! I made these for an on the go snack… I’ve made a few other varieties of balls/bites in the past here, here, here, and here, but they have always been sweet based ones… enter savory. I’m personally much more of a sweet person than salty but my husband likes salty… he travels during the day so I’m always trying to come up with good snacks on the go… you can put these in the freezer overnight and pack them for during the day and they will stay cool and delicious. Because of the tomato paste you should definitely at least keep these guys in the fridge. Feel free to add more garlic or paprika according your preferences!

Ingredients:

½ cup oats

½ cup almonds

¼ cup sunflower seeds

½ tsp seasoned salt

¼ tsp cumin

¼ tsp liquid smoke

½ tsp garlic powder

1TBSP sesame seeds

1 TBSP tomato paste

1 TBSP Dijon mustard

2 TBSP honey

¼ tsp smoked paprika

1-2 TBSP water (optional)

Directions:

1.       First combine oats and almonds in food processor, grind to flour consistency

2.       Add remaining ingredients, except the water, and blend together

3.        Everything should form a mushy dough that you can roll into balls, if the consistency is too dry, add water, if it is a good solid dough, omit water

4.       *I recommend refrigerating/freezing the “dough” for 15 minutes  before rolling into balls

5.       Refridgerate or freeze the balls/bites once they are formed
